Natural Dye and Vegetable Garden

my heart is in the garden
.

One of my favorite parts of natural dyeing is growing dye plants. I have practiced organic gardening for over a decade, and thrive each spring and summer growing a variety of vegetables, herbs, and now dye plants.

Some of my favorite dye plants to grow are sulfur cosmos, black knight scabiosas, dyer's knotweed/Japanese indigo, marigolds, and dyer's coreopsis. A black walnut tree hangs over my fence, and sumac trees pop up in the yard each new growing season.

I learn more about gardening and dye plants with each passing year. To get started on your own natural dye + vegetable garden (even a small potted garden on your porch!) check out Dirt Dye Make for resources.
